Hi, I’m Mike Fisch.

When I worked at the newspaper in Honolulu we had a beautiful window in our building that was created using Dalle de verre glass and I had always admired it.

I had always wanted to do something with stained glass after I retired, but after learning more about Dalle de verre, I decided I’d pursue this method of glass creations.

In 2016 I started setting up my home studio. Through a bit of trial and error, I learned the techniques and began making finished pieces. Now I’m ready to begin spreading my wings and creating custom pieces for purchase.

If you have an interest in a custom piece of glass that will add sparkle to your home let me know!

My Work.

Each piece I create is unique and custom. Sometimes the piece is inspired by the color of the glass, sometimes it’s by a unique metal frame I come across. Each one has a story behind it and I would love to collaborate with you to create a one of a kind piece for your home.

Learn About Beautiful

Dalle De Verre Glass.

I researched various methods of creating with glass and came across the Dalle de verre (glass slab) method which was developed in the 1930's in Paris by Jean Gaudin.

The slabs of glass are typically about 8x12 inches and a little over an inch thick. They are shaped with a combination of diamond wet saws, and breaking with a hammer or glass cutter. The edges of the glass may be chipped or faceted to increase the refraction and reflection effects.

There are just a few glass providers in America, Kokomo Opalescent Glass is the primary maker and they have been making glass for over 150 years. In 2016, I visited and took a tour of the entire process and that’s where I purchased by first glass, then I drove it home and began creating and Fisch Glass Works was born!
